Too often, the mining industry can feel like an echo chamber: brilliant conversations happening internally but rarely reaching the wider world. Most companies recognise the importance of communication, especially as business models shift toward greater transparency and stakeholder involvement. Perceptions matter. Trust matters. And in an industry where public opinion, investor confidence, and talent attraction are increasingly critical, how we communicate can make a material difference.
This is where storytelling comes in. Humans have been sharing stories for thousands of years, to pass on knowledge, preserve culture and convey purpose. Today, we have the luxury of telling our stories across multiple platforms: in written articles, at conferences, in investor presentations, on social media, and even in casual conversations. We now have access not just to immediate stakeholders, but to millions of potential audiences at the touch of a button. The challenge lies in tailoring our stories to each of these audiences without losing authenticity.
To help us hone our collective skillset, Carly Leonida invited three storytelling experts – Dr Haydon Mort, Jessica Scanlan and Prof. Iain Stewart – to share their insights. Watch the video to learn more.
