The 2024 editorial calendar (which you can view here) is themed around ‘mining with values’. What does that mean? It means to bring the same values that we hold near and dear in our personal lives – care for the environment, respect for people and their unique perspectives, listening and learning, resourcefulness, standing up for what we believe in, and so forth – more deeply into our work too.
My experience on this publication and more broadly, has taught me that there’s a growing portion of the mining and metals community who care deeply about how businesses in this industry operate and the way in which they relate to society. To us (yep, me included), it’s more than just a job. It’s a way to make a difference in the world.
While the decisions of individuals may seem small, collectively, positive choices can have a transformative effect. By upholding our personal values in our work and sharing them, we not only make leaders of ourselves and inspire others, in time, it will also shift the course of companies both big and small.
On that note, I’d like to thank you all for your continued support. It’s an honour to provide a platform that elevates visionary voices, and I hope to speak to and feature many more of you in my writing over the next 12 months.
